Cat insurance for a Cornish Rex is important. Since this breed is willing to eat off your plate, they might eat something they are not suppose too! This might make you take a trip to the vet and with cat insurance, it will help you out with the bill!
The first reporting of the Cornish Rex was in July of 1950 in England. Cat owner Nina Ennismore’s Serena gave birth a litter of five kittens. One of the kittens, Kallibunker, was not like the rest. Kallibunker had short and curly hair. He had a long and lithe body whereas his siblings and mother had a cobby body. Ennismore noticed this and went to investigate with a geneticist. The geneticist noticed that the fur was similar to a rabbit (Astrex) suggested that Ennismore should backcross Kallibunker to his mother and in doing so, there were litters of short and curl litters. Part of the Cornish Rex name derived from the Astrex rabbit. A pair of cats made it to America in 1957 with the help of Fran Blancheri. In 1964 the Cat Fancier Association (CFA) accepted the Cornish Rex for Championship.
Cornish Rex are very sociable cats. They are also very intelligent, active, and friendly. They like to play with you especially when they are in a good mood. They are affectionate and be by your side whenever they can especially during dinner time. So be cautious about your food, these cats are known to take a bite while you aren’t looking! And if they are feeling bold, they will take a bite even when you are looking!
One thing you will notice about Cornish Rex is that, those who say they are allergic to cats, might own a Cornish Rex. Since their coat is very short, they tend to shed less hair than other cats do. What makes people react to the cats is the Fel d1 which is the saliva when cats groom themselves. When the hair falls on the ground, this causes people to react to cat hair. Since Cornish Rex does not shed as much, this allergen is reduced.
Cornish Rex tend to be smaller cats where their body ranges from small to medium. Its torso is long and slender same with its legs and tails. The coat, like stated before is short, which means less grooming. It’s coat is very soft and silky. Cornish Rex ranges in different colors and patterns.
